Hi, I am Anita. I have a Bachelor's in Food Sciences and a secondary education teaching degree. Most of my experience has been teaching Chemistry. I am part of the global NGO “Teach for All”. I have a passion for science, numbers, logical challenges, and sharing my knowledge as much as I can.

Kath
Action Tutoring Director and Advisor

I proudly owned and operated Action Tutoring for over 10 years. My core belief is that every child has the ability to learn, and that learning should never follow a one-size-fits-all approach. I still work in schools to keep up with what is happening in our education system. I genuinely enjoy working closely with parents and caregivers to find the best fit for each child’s learning journey.

With a degree in teaching, classroom experience across Years 1 to 13, and learning and coordination experience working with various agencies to support and guide students through their learning. I bring both professional knowledge and personal passion to supporting young learners.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy learning about and experiencing different cultures, being creative, spending time with my family, and our two dogs. Currently, I’m exploring my relationship with clay, which is messy but fun.

Sue
Literacy, Math, and Science Tutor

Hi, I'm Sue, a retired teacher with several decades of teaching experience in England and New Zealand.
Though retired, I feel I still have a contribution to make in the community by tutoring. I'm a grandma and enjoy family time, walking, reading, and the arts. I'm passionate about people and our beautiful planet!
Meeting and working with people is fulfilling and provides a great way to engage with lifelong learners.

Andrew
Senior English Tutor

I grew up in Hampshire and West Sussex in England. For a short time, I worked at DECCA’s classical recording studios in West Hampstead. I moved to New Zealand in 1977 and have worked in the music industry ever since.

Over the years, I’ve been involved with several professional organisations, including the NZ Institute of Management, the Human Resource Institute of NZ, and the Institute of Directors. I’m often invited to adjudicate musical events.

I hold a Master of Music in Composition, an MA, an MBA, and a Master of Management Studies in Strategic Management—all from the University of Waikato—as well as an FTCL in orchestral conducting. I’ve also tutored undergraduate and postgraduate students at the Waikato Management School.

Cooper
Senior Maths, Physics, Accounting, and Science Tutor

Kia ora, my name is Cooper. I am currently a third-year Psychology student studying under a Bachelor of Social Sciences with a minor in Forensic Psychology. I plan to go into neuroscience to do memory research.
As someone who always found maths and many other subjects quite boring, I was very surprised to come to university and find that they can be incredibly enjoyable. I want to show that passion to any students currently feeling that way, and help to find their own passion.
Naturally, given my area of study, my interests are science, mathematics, and reading.

Cameron
Maths and Physics

Hi, my name is Cameron, and I am currently a second-year student studying for a Bachelor’s with honours degree in Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waikato. As someone who never reached their full potential in high school, I can completely understand the feeling of being behind and not knowing what to do about it. I am a very conscientious and tentative person, and can communicate my ideas well and understand when or why a student may feel stuck.
After finding my footing in math and physics during Y13-Present, I have been able to master all of calculus (relevant to the students). Additionally, I am highly proficient in mathematics and physics, and I feel my knowledge could be of great use to those who need it for their upcoming exams.
In my spare time I enjoy gaming, going to the gym, working on personal projects, or cooking good food.

Aasha
Literacy and English Tutor up to Year 10

Hey, I'm Aasha Teresa, an educator with a deep-rooted passion for language and creative expression. Literature has always been at the heart of my academic journey, and working as a language tutor adds purpose and joy to my everyday life.
I'm constantly inspired by different forms of creativity, whether it's films, music, or handmade crafts. I believe learning is a lifelong process, and I find great fulfilment in walking alongside fellow learners, growing and discovering together through words and ideas.

Jessica
Literacy and English Tutor

Hi, I'm Jessica. I'm an avid fantasy reader and spend the majority of my time book in hand.

I have just completed my Queen's Guide award and I am using tutoring to help with my future dream job of becoming a teacher.

Ianthe
Literacy/English Tutor

Hi all! I am a student in the final year of my Undergraduate degree at the University of Waikato. I am undertaking a Bachelor of Social Science degree with a major in Psychology. I have a deep-rooted interest in child psychology and the principles of child development.
Education is important to me, as I have a deep care and interest in how children can develop to become the best version of themselves, and I love seeing the progress everyone can make.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, baking, gaming, playing with my pets, and listening to music. I enjoy learning new languages and acquiring new skills.

Nicky
Junior Math and English Tutor

Hi, I'm Nicky and I find enjoyment in hands-on learning to gain a better understanding, which has guided me toward an interest in engineering and building. Because of this I aim to help students who also learn in a similar way.

In my spare time I enjoy watching movies and playing cards with family and friends. A few of my hobbies are playing hockey, baking, and swimming.

Anna
Maths, Science, Chemistry Tutor

Hi there, I'm Anna. I'm currently studying a Bachelor of Science at the University of Waikato majoring in data analytics and psychology. In school my favourite subjects were maths and science so I'm very excited to be able to help students in these subjects at action tutoring.
Before moving to Hamilton for uni, I lived up north in Whangarei. I love spending time outside and being at the beach, and my other hobbies include sewing, knitting and painting.

Izzy
Junior Maths and Science Tutor

Hi, I’m Izzy, and I am a high school student. When I was younger, I struggled with math, which knocked my confidence. Once I was taught a style that made sense to me, it changed my ability to understand.

Now, I am working a year ahead in math. This is why supporting others who struggle in the area of maths is very important to me! In my spare time, I enjoy playing hockey and cooking meals. When I want to relax, I read, watch movies and listen to music.

Sid
Senior Math, Literacy and Science Tutor

Hey, I'm Sid. I am a high school student who loves studying and the satisfaction that comes from understanding new concepts. I enjoy learning new things and understand that it can be hard and scary, so I aim to help students with my skills and support them as they grow and gain a stronger understanding of the cool world around them.
I also understand that studying is not everything. In my spare time, I love to play sports - cricket, hockey, and football. I also really like running. I enjoy baking for my family and cooking dinners. A really cool hobby that I pursue is 3d printing. I hope to connect with my students through shared interests and help them enjoy tutoring.

Danika
Online Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology Tutor

Hi, I'm Danika. I grew up in the beautiful Bay of Plenty, and now I am based in Hamilton.
In my last year of studying a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours as a Mechanical major at the University of Waikato. My passions lie in learning how the world works. I really enjoy helping others out, as I was once a high school student and understand the struggles.
I use my past experiences to help out others, as I know science and maths subjects can be overwhelming. Once students get the right support, I believe everyone can achieve their goals and career ambitions.
Outside of studying, I love going to the gym and going on nice walks with friends and family.
